Why does effective Managed Aquifer Recharge need geophysics?
In 2001 the International Association of Hydrogeologists recognized the huge potential for Managing Aquifer Recharge as a groundwater management tool especially in semi-arid areas and where economic growth is increasing pressure on scarce resources (Gale 2005). IAH formed the Commission on Managing Aquifer Recharge to ensure that the best science was brought to bear in enhancing aquifer recharge to maximize the benefits and ensure groundwater quality and ecosystems are protected.
